Dealing With It

Getting the bills paid, and then some
Back to Full Blog

On Friday, my paycheck wasn't in the mail as I had hoped it would be, but it did arrive on Saturday, long after the banks closed. I rushed to cash it yesterday, then went on a few errands. So much for Monday.

Today was slightly less hectic in that I didn't have to do a lot. But my bills are all paid now, until next month. I'm paying vet bills, namely for two cats, Mimi and Waffles. Mimi has feline acne and has been prescribed some medicine, while Waffles is going for her check-up on Thursday.

One of the other bills I've been paying is the one for myself. That is, I always take out some money from every montly paycheck and put it aside. Specifically, I place a hundred dollars or so in a "Do Not Touch" envelope, then shove the envelope deep in a closet shelf that holds my towels, shampoos and soaps. After awhile, I'll forget that it is even there. Then if I ever run short, I'll remember to search that shelf thoroughly. Amazingly, this works and is a lifesaver during lean times.
